The first electric vehicle from Maruthi suzuki set to make a significant impact in india,s EV market soon. It was unveiled at Bharat mobility global Expo in 2025 and expected to launch on may 19, 2025 with estimated price price range of Rs 20Lakh to 25 Lakh (ex-shoroom) price.
Specifications
Battery and Power: Available in two variants - 49 kWh with 142 bhp and 61 kWh with 172 bhp, both offering 192 Nm of torque. It is front-wheel-drive in India, with an AWD option internationally.
Range: Claims a range of up to 500 km on a full charge, suitable for intercity trips.
Safety and Features: Equipped with Level 2 ADAS, 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Battery, Range, and Performance
The e Vitara offers two battery pack options: a 49 kWh pack with 142 bhp and 192 Nm of torque, and a 61 kWh pack with 172 bhp and 192 Nm, both in front-wheel-drive (FWD) configuration for the Indian market. Internationally, the 61 kWh variant will offer an All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) option, delivering 184 bhp and 300 Nm, catering to diverse market preferences. The claimed range is over 500 km on a single charge (MIDC cycle), making it suitable for intercity travel, with weights ranging from 1,702 kg to 1,899 kg, depending on the variant.
Charging options are versatile, supporting home AC outlets for overnight charging and fast DC charging stations for quick recharges, with the ability to reach 80% charge in a short time. The vehicle also includes a portable charger and integrates with the Maruti Suzuki app for locating and reserving charging slots, enhancing user convenience. Maruti Suzuki is committed to developing charging infrastructure at its dealerships and workshops, boosting confidence among potential buyers.
Safety and Technology
Safety is a priority, with the e Vitara equipped with 7 airbags, including a driver knee airbag, ABS with EBD, traction control, electronic stability program (ESP), ISOFIX child seat mounts, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. It features Level 2 ADAS with over 15 functions, including Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, High Beam Assist, and Adaptive Emergency Braking, enhancing driver and passenger safety. Additional safety features include front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and an Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS) for pedestrian safety. While yet to be crash-tested, expectations are high following the Dzire’s 5-star Global NCAP rating.
